Here are a mix of film and digital photos from our trip to Colorado for an elopement. Our Colorado road trip was the perfect blend of adventure, work, and time to slow down and enjoy some of the most incredible scenery in the Rockies. We flew into Denver before making our way through Estes Park and driving the breathtaking Trail Ridge Road across the heart of the Rocky Mountains, with a stop at Loveland Pass along the way. After spending the night in Silverthorne, we headed south on the unforgettable Million Dollar Highway to Silverton, where we photographed an intimate adventure elopement at Velocity Basin and explored the stunning Mineral Creek Falls. Silverton is one of the nations “dark sky communities” where stepping outside during twilight is a real treat. Watching the milky way travel across the sky with our bare eyes was a big highlight. Once the wedding weekend wrapped up, we continued our journey to Great Sand Dunes National Park, wandered among the towering dunes, and finished the trip with a visit to Garden of the Gods before making our way back to the airport. From alpine lakes and rugged mountain passes to waterfalls, wildflowers, red rock formations, milkway viewing, and endless mountain views, this trip reminded us why Colorado continues to be one of our favorite places for both adventure and photography. We drove over 20 hours, almost 1000 miles. All film images taken on a Canon F1 on Kodak Portra 400 film.
