Trace contacted me on a Monday, saying he had plans to propose to his girlfriend on Wednesday. Proposals aren’t something I photograph often. In fact, I think the last one I did was over 10 years ago. But due to his last minute request, I felt inclined to help him out. And boy am I glad I did. Proposals can be tricky, a lot of things can go wrong, surprises can be ruined, lack of communication can lead to a wrong place, wrong time scenario. But thanks to Apple Location Tracking and the dune covered South End of Wrightsville Beach, none of these worries were present. As I nestled myself hidden in a dune, I tracked Trace as they walked along the point of the South End, until they stopped on a heart I had drawn in the sand. Trace had brilliantly distracted Natalie by showing her a video on his phone, she didn’t even notice they had stopped centered in a heart in the sand. It was there is dropped to one knee and popped the question. She was ecstatic. She immediately started jumping up and down and into his arms as she yelled out YES! We used the last bit of light from a gorgeous summer sunset to do some couples portraits of them along the white sands of the South End. I’m so happy Trace trusted me to photograph such an amazing “once in a lifetime” moment for them. Congratulations to the happy couple!
