Anastasija & John-Michael’s wedding at The Barn at Rock Creek was an incredible celebration of love & laughter. Located in Leland, North Carolina, just outside of Wilmington, The Barn at Rock Creek is one of the area’s most beautiful countryside venues — complete with a stunning rustic barn, an outdoor pavilion, and a backdrop of hardwood trees that make it perfect for a fall wedding.The day started off with a hilarious faux first look — instead of seeing his bride right away, John-Michael was greeted by three of his groomsmen dressed in makeshift wedding gowns. It set the tone for a day full of fun and laughter before the couple shared their real first look surrounded by the rich fall colors of the property. As their Wilmington wedding photographer, I loved capturing those early portraits — getting them done before the ceremony meant Ana and John could relax and enjoy their cocktail hour with friends and family.Their ceremony had a unique twist too. Instead of a traditional ring bearer, the couple hid their wedding rings under a random guest’s chair, making for a spontaneous and memorable moment when the lucky guests discovered them during the ceremony. It was such a creative way to get guests involved and keep everyone smiling. Afterward, we moved into the barn for their reception, beautifully designed by the talented team at Meg Henson Events. Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner by ART Catering, followed by heartfelt toasts from the maid of honor and best man. As the sun set, the newlyweds shared their first dances outside under the twinkle lights of blue hour — a picture-perfect moment that felt straight out of a movie. The night ended with everyone back under the pavilion, dancing and celebrating beneath the stars. Ana and John were the kind of couple that make documenting a wedding feel effortless — joyful, down-to-earth, and completely in the moment.
