Dan & Jessica are from Ohio. Jessica has been vacationing on Pleasure Island for many years now, and since her first visit, she knew it was the perfect place to get married. I can’t blame her. These two were a blast to work with, Dan had us all cracking up the whole time and it really helped bring out those great, natural smiles you’ll see below. Their whole family was in town vacationing and both Dan & Jessica’s mothers joined us as we toured around the scenic areas of Fort Fisher for their engagement session. Can’t be happy enough to shoot their wedding in March of next year.

I shot Jared & Lauren’s Fort Fisher wedding at the start of June this year. I’ve been waiting to shoot a ceremony at this location for sometime now. If you follow my work you know I shoot A LOT at Fort Fisher, but I have yet to shoot a wedding in The Grove. It is one of my favorite places in the world. Pair that with a reception at the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher, perfect weather and an awesome couple, and you’re guaranteed a picture perfect event. I’m sure many of you have attended the Aquarium during regular hours, but the way they transform the space into a classy & elegant reception venue is nothing short of impressive. They had the dance floor setup right beside the Cape Fear Shoals exhibit, which is the largest tank in the Aquarium, and provided an impressive backdrop for the first dances. I’ve handpicked a few of my favorites to share here on the blog. Contact me to shoot your Fort Fisher or FF Aquarium wedding! Enjoy!

Well, wedding season it officially in full swing here in Southeastern North Carolina. The temperatures are warming, the flowers are blooming and the tourists are beginning to filter in. This first post is from Scott & Lindsey’s engagement session down at Fort Fisher, NC. After a couple reschedules and a week of unpromising weather, we finally managed to nail down a day with perfect conditions. Lindsey made some awesome props for their Save the Date cards, matching the rustic theme of their wedding. They even brought along their pooch Nolan for a handful of portraits. Here’s a little taste of what we got. Can’t wait to shoot their wedding in October. I’ll have some pretty steady content here on the blog in the next few months. Keep in the loop by subscribing to my Facebook page and following the blog.
This is another shoot I had before Christmas. Danny and Brittany are from Sunset Beach but wanted to have their engagement at Fort Fisher. We experienced all kinds of weather during this session; Sun, Clouds, Rain, Wind, Cold. But we made the best of it and got some great images. Brittany made some DIY save the date signs out of some wood lettering, which turned out to be a great prop for their session. I’ll look forward to shooting their wedding in a few months at Sunset Beach, NC!
We shot Keith & Heather’s engagement photos down at Ft Fisher a couple weeks ago. This is my most requested location, so it’s always fun and exciting to see what kind of new stuff I can come up with. I absolutely LOVE this first image. I’d hang it on my wall if that wouldn’t be weird. ha! Keith is the brother of Stephanie whose wedding I shot earlier this year! Looking forward to shooting their wedding at the Marriot in Carolina Beach next spring! Looking good guys!
I had the privilege of shooting Stephen & Ashli’s wedding down at Fort Fisher, North Carolina a few weekends ago. They had a great ceremony on the beach followed by a great little reception at Inlet Watch. It was a smaller wedding so they only requested my time for a few hours. Like most beach weddings I’ve shot, the forecast leading up didn’t look too promising, but the weather ended up being perfect. We also were able to separate from the wedding party and guests for a half hour following the ceremony to get some great shots of the newlyweds, which I always recommend. As I mentioned in the last post, I took a trip out to California for a couple weeks after this wedding, so look for that post(s) soon!
I formatted these images for the blog a while back and I thought I had posted them. We had this session a little under a month ago down at Fort Fisher, North Carolina. This was one of my favorite sessions from down there, which tends to be the case whenever I shoot at Ft Fisher. We ended up doing some exploring in some spots I’ve never gone to, including climbing trees, bushwhacking and navigating some interesting tunnels through trees, it turned out to be quite the adventure. Jake joked that these images are going to help boost his career as a J.C. Penny catalog model. I’ll look forward to shooting their wedding this coming September!
