Michael + Roxie’s May wedding was held at the historic Brooklyn Arts Center in Downtown Wilmington, NC. One of my favorite places to photograph in Wilmington. Roxie’s eye for design is impeccable, and Charyl from Social Butterfly Events, along with the crew from Eco Chic Blossoms really knocked this one out of the park. The reception setting inside of the main building of the BAC looked the best I’ve ever seen it. Roxie and her bridesmaids got ready at historic Baker-O’Connor House on South Front Street, making for a beautiful backdrop for photos. After a intimate ceremony in the courtyard at the BAC surrounded by their closest family & friends, we took the trolly down to the waterfront to get some portraits using the Cape Fear River as a backdrop. We partied the night away to the sounds of the Virginia based party band,Attraction. Here are a few of my favorite moments from their special day.
Brooklyn Arts Center Wedding
Ryan and Chelsea (or Chopsea, as they were aptly named by Tanner during his best man speech) were married at the Brooklyn Arts Center at St Andrews, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Chops (Ryan) is an old highschool friend, so it was nice seeing a lot of familiar faces. The Brooklyn Arts Center is always a pleasure to shoot at, and not to meantion beautiful. Tanner’s best man speech, which turned into a rendition of Ice, Ice, Baby (only substituting Chops, Chops, Chelsea and his own witty lyrics) was a hit, and really set the mood for the reception. Here’s a little of what went down. Thanks as always to Rich and the crew at BAC for always being so accommodating and a big thanks to my brother John for second shooting this one with me. Also, my friends over at M2 Productions put together an awesome video from Chopsea’s wedding, check that out here. Can these guys party or what!?!
Good day blog stalkers! I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas followed by an even better New Years! We’re enjoying a bit of down time here preparing for our batch of 2014 weddings. I was incredibly greatful to have worked with so many amazing couples throughout 2013, and I am looking forward to the many more I will work with in 2014. I’ve decided to go through my images from 2013 and post of a series of my favorite images. Some personal, some from weddings, engagements, family portraits, etc. I’m not the best at picking favorites, so there are quite a few, but I think you will enjoy looking back on my year.
Now without further ado, here is my 2013 Year in Images (In no particular order). Enjoy!
It’s pretty rare to get to shoot a wedding of the same couple twice, but on this friday evening in September I got to do just that. I had the pleasure of joining these two in New York last year to shoot a small, intimate ceremony in Central Park, as well as some engagement/lifestyle images in the urban-esque landscape of the Big Apple. (If you missed that post, you can check it out here, https://chriszachary.com/blog/2012/10/11/briecaroline-engagement-wedding-new-york-ny/). Brie has roots in New York, while Caroline is a local girl, so it only makes sense to have a wedding in both locations. After the New York wedding, I knew this one would not disappoint. The love these two share is rare and its quite apparent whenever they’re together. The ceremony & reception were held in Downtown Wilmington at the Brooklyn Arts Center. It was quite the honor to have the opportunity to document both of their wedding days. Hopefully I’ll be able to attend their wedding next year! (There is one next year, right guys? Guys???) The day after their wedding I got to drive up to Edenton, NC to shoot a stunning wedding at Pembroke Hall, look for those next on the blog.

Here is another wedding from this summer. This one was back in July. Fall wedding season is in full swing so I’m trying to get caught up on some blogging. I have about 6 queued up. It’s been almost 2 months since the last post! Whew! Anyway, back to Nate + Jen. This was my first time shooting at the Brooklyn Arts Center in Downtown Wilmington, NC. Formerly St Andrews Church, constructed in 1888, the Brooklyn Arts Center has been transformed into the ultimate wedding venue. Nate & Jen opted to shoot a “First Look” prior to the ceremony, and the courtyard at the BAC provided the perfect setting. Jen and her bridemaids got ready at the historic house attached to the BAC while Nate and the groomsmen were in the Tower room at the Best Western on the riverfront. Post ceremony we took a trolley to the riverfront to shoot some bridal party portraits, while guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the courtyard. The reception kicked off with a bang with a live band providing a musical backdrop late into the night. We even got a visit from the fire department after the building alarm was set off, still not sure why, but it sure did provide some awesome photo ops. A lot of time and thought was put into Nate + Jen’s wedding which is evident in all the little details. It was a pleasure shooting for these two and I wish them the best! Enjoy!
