I had the pleasure of shooting Dan & Jessica’s wedding as my first wedding of 2014. Couldn’t have been a better group of people to kick it off. Dan & Jess are from Ohio, but we did manage to get in an Engagement session at Fort Fisher in July of last year, you can check those out here. They were super fun and outgoing, a lot of fun to photograph and be around, I knew their wedding would be a blast. We started off the day at their rental house in Kure Beach, before moving on to the beautiful ceremony location; a secluded section of the beach at Fort Fisher. Take notes brides, Spring is the best time for a beach wedding, not a lot of people on the beach and great weather. Following the ceremony, we made a quick stop at the Grove at Fort Fisher for some Bride & Groom portraits before moving on to the Winner Party Boats in Carolina Beach. There’s nothing better than crusing down the waterway as the sun sets, grooing to some good tunes (provided by DJ Professionals). We even had an opportunity to shoot some night portraits down at the Kure Beach pier following the reception, which turned out to be some of my favorite images from the day. Scott+Lindsey | Wedding | St. Mary’s Catholic Church + Arab Shrine Club

I had the pleasure of meeting Scott & Lindsey for their Engagement Session at Fort Fisher in April of last year. Check those out here… We got some amazing images for their engagement session (they decorated their reception with the some of the images! LOVE that!), they were super fun and laid back, I knew their wedding would be just that. The ceremony was held at the BEAUTIFUL St. Mary’s Catholic Church (seriously one of the most amazing churches in ILM) with the reception being at the Arab Shrine Club. Mike Worlet of Edge Entertainment provided the tunes, while Middle of the Island provided the eats and Roberta of Verzaal’s picked the flowers. Here’s how their day unfolded..

Tony+Amanda | Wedding | Lumina Hall | Wrightsville Beach, NC Photographer

Here’s another one that has been sitting in the vault. Tony & Amanda were one of those couples who I never got an opportunity to meet prior to their wedding day. Besides typical email communitcation, the morning of their wedding was our first time meeting face to face (they’re Georgians). You would think that would create a sort of anxiety for them and I, but we hit it off from the start and they immediatley felt like friends.. They had one of the best ceremony setups I’ve ever seen. Super elaborate and elegant, with a raised platform, bamboo arbor, parasols, etc. setup on the Southern End of Wrightsville Beach. The reception was held at Lumina Hall on mainland Wrightsville Beach, with the always delicious Middle Of The Island catering. It was such a pleasure getting to spend the day with these two and their closest friends & family.

Greg+Charity | Wedding | St. Andrews on the Sound + Carolina Beach Courtyard Marriott

Here’s one from the archives. Greg and Charity’s beautiful October wedding took place at St. Andrews on the Sound, followed by a wonderful reception at the Courtyard Marriot at Carolina Beach, NC. Such a beautiful church, I’ve driven by and admired it ever since I was little, I just had to shoot the bridal portrait in the foreground. I joined them the day before for the rehearsal at Hurricane Alley’s at the Carolina Beach boardwalk, where I was able to meet with the bridal party and family members prior to the wedding, a great advantage to me as a photographer (plus Casey’s buffet catered Mmm). Greg & Charity were so fun and upbeat from our first meeting, I knew their wedding would be just a blast.

Good day blog stalkers! I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas followed by an even better New Years! We’re enjoying a bit of down time here preparing for our batch of 2014 weddings. I was incredibly greatful to have worked with so many amazing couples throughout 2013, and I am looking forward to the many more I will work with in 2014. I’ve decided to go through my images from 2013 and post of a series of my favorite images. Some personal, some from weddings, engagements, family portraits, etc. I’m not the best at picking favorites, so there are quite a few, but I think you will enjoy looking back on my year.

Clay+Amy | Engagement | North End, Wrightsville Beach, NC

These two just got hitched a few weeks ago. I’ve known Clay since we were in diapers hussling trapper-keepers and nike pumps. The least I could do for the ole chap is shoot some Engagement photos for them. This was a short session, just walking around the expansive North End of Wrightsville Beach, NC, in the shadows of Shell Island Resort. We hung out in dunes, walked the shoreline & ended up in the marsh. Here’s what we got. We were counting on a good sunset to cap off the session, that didn’t come to fruition, but I think we still came away with some winners. Being a groomman in their wedding, I wasn’t able to shoot their wedding images for them, but I did manage to obscurely follow them around shooting some video, you can find that final video at the bottom of this post. Might have to add video to my wedding services…. Stay tuned. Cheers.

Doug+Maggie | Wedding | Pembroke Hall, Edenton, NC Photographer

This wedding was a photographers dream.. Beautiful location, beautiful weather, beautiful people… Doug & Maggie decided to wed in Edenton, NC (google it) at the stunning Pembroke Hall (google it), and to be honest I wasn’t sure quite sure what to expect when I arrived after a 3-hr drive north from Wilmington. Doug, Maggie and I didn’t get an opportunity to meet prior to their wedding day, I have never been to Edenton and other than a few google searches, I had never seen Pembroke Hall. So you could imagine my relief when I pulled up to a charming historic plantation style home in the heart of downtown Edenton with Maggie’s big contagious smile there to greet me. It was a pleasure hanging out with these guys and their friends & family, on this beautiful and picturesque occasion, a true example of an old fashioned southern wedding.
