Rockwood Manor WeddingI had the pleasure of traveling up to Potomac, Maryland to Rockwood Manor for Liam and Melanie’s October wedding. With Liam being from Scotland, and Melanie living in NYC, other than Skype I didn’t get a chance to meet these two before their wedding. But knowing what I know about the Scots (they can hold their liquor), I knew it would be a party I wouldn’t soon forget! The setting was pretty unbelievable, Rockwood Manor is nestled in 30 acres of woodland just outside Washington, DC and only steps away from Great Falls and the C&O Canal (I had a chance to check out great falls the day before the wedding and its pretty amazing!). Everything was picture perfect, the men rocked those kilts like nobody’s business and the girls were equally as stunning. As expected the party raged on and eventually had to be shut down by an unhappy venue owner and the night was finished off the way every wedding should with a big bonfire. It was such an honor to hang out with these guys for the day, I’m glad i’m finally getting the opportunity to share these photos!

Wrightsville Manor WeddingI knew from my first meeting with Evan & Lexy that their wedding was going to be a good one. Super laid back and fun, you could tell their biggest concern was each other, and you can tell by looking at the smiles on their faces that this truly was the best day of their life. Pair that with one of my favorite local venues, Wrightsville Manor and you’ve got yourself an unforgettable day. The Atrium by Ligon Flynn WeddingI had the pleasure of photographing the nuptials of these two love birds last November at the Atrium in downtown Wilmington. I’ve known Justin for quite sometime, back when he was a writer/photographer for a local surf/skate magazine, Lineup, we used to link up quite often. It feels good as a photographer to get hired by another photographer, kinda means you’re doing something right. We had a little bit of rain just after the ceremony, but the inside of the Atrium provided a good backdrop for some portraits before moving outside when the rain slowed. The Atrium is a bit of a hidden gem in downtown Wilmington and gives you that outdoor feel while still providing some shelter. Justin is a bit of a beer connoisseur so he had an awesome selection of local and domestic craft beers (check out those badass goblets), an awesome cake table (the cake topper!) and a vegan food bar, among many other awesome details!

Greenfield Lake Engagement In honor of shooting the wedding of these guys in California in a couple months, I thought I’d throw their engagement photos up on the blog! They’ve had to reschedule their wedding date a couple times, and I was beginning to wonder if they would ever get married! But they landed on a date in October at Kevin’s grandfathers home in Santa Barbara (technically Lompoc), California. Needless to say, I’m pretty freaking excited to get back out on the west coast to shoot this beautiful couple in such a beautiful location. We shot these photos about a year ago at Greenfield Lake in Wilmington. I don’t shoot here a whole lot, but it’s really got a lot of awesome spots for photos. Although, it does get a little sketchy after dark!

Brooklyn Arts Center WeddingNo better way to follow Christine’s bridal session than her wedding photos! Brooklyn Arts Center is one of my favorite venues in Wilmington to shoot. The director Rich is super accommodating to everyone and makes sure everything runs super smoothly throughout the day. Charyl from Social Butterfly and Design Perfection literally knocked this one out of the park. I’ve shot here a lot and its always interesting to see how the bride’s vision can be translated into the space, lets just say Christine’s vision is on point! In a tradition of good luck, Christine’s mom handcrafted 1000 gold origami cranes to hang elegantly behind their cake table and it was absolutely stunning. It was such a happy and emotional day, its hard to look at the photos and not have all those happy feels come rushing back! This wedding was also featured on Borrowed & Blue!!

Holden Beach WeddingSo, I’ve been looking through my backups and I have A LOT of weddings & sessions I’ve never shared on here! I’m going to try to sprinkle in some older weddings with the new stuff. This wedding was a little over a year ago from Holden Beach, NC. Cory and Lisa are from Illinois and decided they wanted to get married with their toes in the sand. Living close to the beach my whole life, its pretty easy to take it for granted, there many “landlocked” folks who have never set their foot in the ocean. Lisa wanted to be sure none of her friends and family had that problem and brought them all down to a beautiful strand of beach called Holden Beach. It’s a good family beach, low on tourists and high on pristines white sand beaches. They decided not to have a formal reception, just some finger foods and fellowship with their many friends and family who made the trek down at a big rental house on the island.
