Shelby & Jared got married at @foreverhomefarm in Pisgah Forest NC, just south of Asheville. The weather couldn’t of been more perfect and with a 200 year old farmhouse, barn and 15 acres of mountain beauty, Forever Home Farm provided the perfect backdrop.
With this all this corona madness going on, and no current weddings to edit. I figured what better time to get caught up on blogging! It’s been quite some time since my last post, so I appreciate those who are still following along. Be sure to follow me on instagram as well, Instagram. We’re going to start with one of my favroite engagement sessions of all time, we met Jennifer and Grayson as one of my most favorite locations in Pisgah NF and we were treated to a glorious (but cold) sunset. Their son Jay came along and hopped in some of their photos, which turned out to be some of my favorrites. These guys live in Wilmington and I will be shooting there wedding here, but we both share a love for the mountains so I’m so glad we were able to make this shoot come to life.
Ashley & Brandon were wed at the beautiful Old Homestead Farm just north of Wilmington in Rocky Point, NC. The open courtyard at the end of the long driveway, covered by large oak trees, creates the most perfect setting for a wedding ceremony. They used the inside of the barn for their ceremony and reception, while a large tent was used for dinner. Jennifer, with Belle Eme events made sure the couples vision came to life with gorgeous florals and design. Shawn Booth with Active Entertainment kept the party going all night.
Annie & Tom were wed at the beautiful Weaver House just north of Asheville, NC in Weaverville, NC. We had planned prior to get some sunset photos at the Tanbark Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The weather wasn’t cooperating but, despite the rain, we decided to stick to the plan. One benefit of the cloudy & rainy conditions, those fall colors really popped. Probably the best display of fall colors I’ve seen. And since we did these photos prior to the ceremony, it was perfectly timed for the weather to hold off enough for their outdoor ceremony. The indoor space provided the perfect location for their reception and the outdoor Japanese inspired gardens and vibrant fall colors real set the scene for an amazing picturesque event.
Whitney & Ben were married at the beautiful Rosa Lee Manor in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, a 5,000-sq.-ft. Colonial-style home built in 1989, located in the midst of more than 200 acres of scenic beauty. The sprawling country-side provides endless backdrops for photos, with mountain views in every direction.
This will always go down as one of my favorite sessions ever. Traveling out to Portland Oregon to photograph Leah & Joe frolicking around Cannon Beach, cuddling on a cliff at Ecola State Park, enjoying each other’s company at a local coffee shop and jumping in a canoe at the visually stunning Trillium Lake with absolutely breathtaking views of Mt Hood. I cannot wait to take another trip out there and really explore the beauty that wonderful state has to offer.
Bailey & Ryan were wed at the gorgeous Merrimon-Wynne House in Raleigh, North Carolina. Built in 1876, The Merrimon-Wynne House has been carefully restored to its original grandeur. In addition to the picturesque building, The Merrimon-Wynne House has expansive, beautifully maintained grounds. Located in the heart of historic downtown Raleigh, it sits on the birth site of Dr. Jane McKimmon, and is only a few doors away from the Governor’s Mansion. Ryan is the brother of Kat, who’s wedding I photographed a couple years earlier. I knew after meeting them then that their wedding would be a great time! Scroll to the bottom for a list of vendors!
I had the opportunity to team up with Folk & Wayfarer to shoot this amazing elopement in Asheville, NC. They recited their vow and changed into their wedding attire along side a stream in the Pisgah National Forest before hiking to Moore Cove Falls for a more formal, officiated ceremony with their closest family members. We even had a chance to go up to Looking Glass Falls for some couples portraits. I can’t express how much I love elopements, its a less complicated, more intimate way to tie the knot, not to mention it cuts out a lot of unnecessary costs, and it allows you the time and opportunity to focus on what matters the most, becoming one in marriage.
