Fall is here! I met up with Leah and Chris last week at the coveted Airlie Gardens in Wilmington, NC and had the best time traipsing around some of my favorite spots in the gardens. Airlie Gardens is often overlooked or passed over because they do require a fee to shoot there. However, with 67 acres of creekside southern gardens, 10 acres of freshwater lakes and of course the 468 year old Airlie Oak tree, it is more than worth the cost of admission. Not only is it a popular location for weddings and photoshoots, the countless walking trails make for a great way to immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the natural beauty Airlie provides. It’s been a minute since I’ve shared an engagement session on the blog, and I have had quite a few great ones this year. Engagement sessions are the best way to get to know each other prior to your wedding day. In a lot of cases, other than a few meetings, I don’t get to spend a whole lot of time with my couples prior to the wedding day. Engagement sessions don’t only give us a great opportunity to grab some awesome photos, but it also gives us a chance to hang out for a bit before the big day. Here’s Casey & Carter from earlier this year at Fort Fisher, NC. Always one of my favorite places to shoot.

With this all this corona madness going on, and no current weddings to edit. I figured what better time to get caught up on blogging! It’s been quite some time since my last post, so I appreciate those who are still following along. Be sure to follow me on instagram as well, Instagram. We’re going to start with one of my favroite engagement sessions of all time, we met Jennifer and Grayson as one of my most favorite locations in Pisgah NF and we were treated to a glorious (but cold) sunset. Their son Jay came along and hopped in some of their photos, which turned out to be some of my favorrites. These guys live in Wilmington and I will be shooting there wedding here, but we both share a love for the mountains so I’m so glad we were able to make this shoot come to life.

Leah + Joe | Portland, Oregon Adventure Session

This will always go down as one of my favorite sessions ever. Traveling out to Portland Oregon to photograph Leah & Joe frolicking around Cannon Beach, cuddling on a cliff at Ecola State Park, enjoying each other’s company at a local coffee shop and jumping in a canoe at the visually stunning Trillium Lake with absolutely breathtaking views of Mt Hood. I cannot wait to take another trip out there and really explore the beauty that wonderful state has to offer.

Bridget + Blake | Engagement | NC Art Museum Raleigh, NC Photographer

I had the opportunity to meet Bridget + Blake out in Raleigh, North Carolina for their engagement session at the NC Art Museum. We spend a couple hours walking around exploring the property making use of the many unique features of the building and its surroundings. I love exploring and shooting in new locations, this was one of my favorites!

Fort Fisher EngagementHad the pleasure of shooting these two babes down at Fort Fisher a few weeks ago. They’re pretty easy on the eyes, aren’t they? I used to shoot down at Fort Fisher all the time, but it had been about a year maybe since my last one. It’s definitely one of my all time favorite spots. And this is one of my all time favorite sessions! Actually, I’ve had quite a few awesome engagement sessions here lately. Guess its that time of year!

Greenfield Lake Engagement In honor of shooting the wedding of these guys in California in a couple months, I thought I’d throw their engagement photos up on the blog! They’ve had to reschedule their wedding date a couple times, and I was beginning to wonder if they would ever get married! But they landed on a date in October at Kevin’s grandfathers home in Santa Barbara (technically Lompoc), California. Needless to say, I’m pretty freaking excited to get back out on the west coast to shoot this beautiful couple in such a beautiful location. We shot these photos about a year ago at Greenfield Lake in Wilmington. I don’t shoot here a whole lot, but it’s really got a lot of awesome spots for photos. Although, it does get a little sketchy after dark!
